30 Operating Instructions, 08/2015, C79000-G8976-C352-03
With metal stand/with stand detection
The
hardware product version 2
of the reader has stand detection.
By default, the reader automatically changes to the motion detection mode when it is placed
on the stand. In this mode, the reader is activated by holding a barcode in the scanner field.
To confirm that the barcode was read correctly, the reader generates a beep, vibrates and a
green LED flashes.
When the reader is taken off the stand, it changes to manual mode:
To read a barcode, you need to press the trigger button (see "Without metal stand").
With metal stand / without stand detection
The hardware product version
1
of the reader does not have automatic stand detection with
which barcode reading on detection of motion is activated when the reader is placed on the
stand.
To configure this hardware product version for scanning on detection of motion, scan in
the appropriate code: See section Code configurations (Page 53).

SIMATIC MV320 / SIMATIC MV325
32 Operating Instructions, 08/2015, C79000-G8976-C352-03
6.3
Setting the communication mode (SIMATIC MV325)
Charging stations with an integrated Bluetooth modem are equipped with a switch for the
communication mode . With this switch, the reader can transfer data either via the
Bluetooth modem or via a cable connection.
The switch is located on the bottom of the charging station.
Data is transmitted over Bluetooth (direction of the arrow)
Data is transmitted over USB port
Switch for the communication mode
Wireless communication via Bluetooth
If you move the switch for the communication mode to the position (direction of the
arrow), the reader communicates via the Bluetooth modem.
To establish a Bluetooth link, you need to scan the "QuickConnect" code on the front of
the charging station. The scanned data is then transferred wirelessly to the host device.
Wired communication via USB port
To transfer scanned data in cable mode, you need to place the reader in the charging station
so that data can be transferred to the host device.
If a cable connection is required, move the switch for the communication mode to the
position .
For USB download mode or USB keyboard mode, you need to scan in the activation code
of the batch mode.
Operation
6.4 Communication in batch mode (SIMATIC MV325)

Operating Instructions, 08/2015, C79000-G8976-C352-03 33
6.4
Communication in batch mode (SIMATIC MV325)
In batch mode, you can collect data with the reader and buffer it in the reader. Depending on
the selected batch mode, the data is not transferred to the host device until you put the
reader back in the charging station or scan the configuration code for data transmission.
You can distinguish between the following communication modes for communication in batch
mode:
Via Bluetooth
Via USB port
Depending on the required communication mode, you must move the switch on the bottom
of the charging station to the corresponding position.
Data is transmitted over Bluetooth (direction of the arrow)
Data is transmitted over USB port
Transmission of saved data via Bluetooth
Use the following procedure to enable data transmission in batch mode via Bluetooth:
1. Move the switch for the communication mode on the bottom of charging station to the
position (direction of the arrow).
2. Scan the configuration barcode of the batch mode:
Batch Mode Enable - Log Only 1)
3. Scan the "QuickConnect" code on the front of the associated charging station or the
associated Bluetooth modem.
Once you have enabled the communication mode, you can start collecting data.
To transfer the data to the host device, you must scan the configuration code "Batch Mode

Service and maintenance
8
The reader requires little maintenance. Below, you will find several useful tips on upkeep and
maintenance.
To ensure optimum performance of the reader, the window of the reader must be clean. The
window is the colorless plastic part in the head of the reader. The reader works with CMOS
technology in much the same way as a digital camera. A dirty window could have the result
that the reader is no longer capable of reading barcodes.
If the window is dirty, clean it with a soft, non-abrasive cloth or a cosmetic wipe (without
lotion and not impregnated) and a little water.
You can also use a mild cleansing agent: Then wipe the window with a damp cloth.
Approved cleaning agents
The following products have been approved for cleaning the SIMATIC MV320:
Wipes soaked in alcohol
Clorox® disinfecting wipes
Clorox® bleach solution (10% bleach, 90% tap water)
Medical DiAirKem
Sani-Cloth® HB, Super Sani-Cloth® germicidal, Sani-Clot Plus germicidal disposable
