Do not operate or store near strong electrostatic, fields. Take proper ESD precautions. Stresses in excess of the absolute ratings may cause permanent damage. Functional operation is not implied under these conditions. Exposure to absolute ratings for extended periods of time may adversely affect reliability. 2 ADVANCED PRODUCT INFORMATION- Rev 0.1 08/2001 AWT4502 ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS Table 2: Electrical Specifications (Pin < 3dBm, VD 1, 2, 3=+3.5 V; VREG = 3.1V; VSS = (-) 3V, Set VBC (Pin 3) to get IDQ of 150mA; TC = 25 C, 50W Input/50W external output match)* PAR AMETER SYMB OL MIN fo 1850 Power Output Pout 28.5 Intermodulati on D i storti on IM3 IM5 IM7 -26 -36 -45 dB c Power Added Effi ci ency @ POUT = 28.5dBm PAE 32 % - 26 dB 2fo 3fo 4fo <-45 <-40 <-40 dB c 6:1 VSWR load, all phase angles, (POUT < 28.5 dBm) VD = +3.4V, Zs = 50 W 12 dB Frequency Gai n Harmoni cs (@ 28.5dBm) Stabi li ty: -80dBc all spuri ous outputs relati ve to desi red si gnal Input Return Loss RTNIN TYP MAX U N IT 1910 MHz dB m -20 +70 C Operati ng Temp Range @ Heat Slug TC Negati ve Voltage C urrent ISS 3 mA Bi asi ng C urrent (VREG Pi n) IREG 2.5 mA Bi asi ng C urrent (VBC Pi n) IBC 1.5 mA Qui escent C urrent (Idsq1 + Idsq2 + Idsq3) IDSQ 150 mA * As measured in ANADIGICS test fixture. Recommended Operating Procedure on the Evaluation Board Power Up A. Begin by setting all power supplies to 0.0 Volts. B. Make sure that the RF input power is turned off. C. Turn on VSS (Pin 3) to (-) 3V. D. Turn VDS1 (Pin 1), VDS2 (Pin 9), VDS3 (Pins 11, 12, 13 and 14) and VDDC (Pin 4) which are tied together on the fixture, and set to +3.5V and set VREF (Pin 3) for IDQ of 150mA E. Turn RF on and adjust input power to get POUT = 28.5 dBm. Power Down To power down the device follow the above procedure in reverse order. Procedure for Amplifier Operation and Test 1) Slug must be thermally and electrically connected to obtain rated performance. 2) The VSS Voltage should be applied first to the amplifier prior to VD1, VD2, or VD3 voltages. 3) The Bias Pins VREG and VBC may be applied with no VSS voltage present. 4) Always follow ESD precautions when handling these devices.
