performance.TheinputcapacitorC1andoutput
capacitorC2areRFblocksthatisolateDCcurrent
fromadjacentcircuits.CapacitorC3isusedasan
RFbypassthatminimizesnoisefromthesupply.
Insomeapplications,afeedbackresistorR1may
beaddedinserieswithL1,asshowninFigure22,
forimprovedstabilityortoserveasavoltagedrop
foroperationfromhighersupplyvoltages.
Matching for RF Performance
TheAGB3300GainBlockampliercanbeusedin
manyxedwirelessfrequencybands,suchasthe
824-894MHzU.S.cellularbands,the1850-1990
MHzPCSband,the880-960MHzGSMband,the
2400-2500MHzISMband,andthe2500-2686
MHzMMDSband.Reactivematchingcircuitsmay
be designed
forboththeinputandoutput,inordertooptimize
theRFperformanceforaparticularapplication.For
example,gain,linearity(OIP3)andreturnlossmay
beimprovedoveraparticularfrequencybandof
interest.
Recommendedmatchingcircuitsforvarious
applications,aswellaswidebandS-parameters
touseinthesimulationofcustomdesigns,are
includedinthisdatasheet.Foraparticular
applicationnotaddressedinthedatasheet,please
consultwithanANADIGICSSalesReperesentative
orApplicationEngineer.
Evaluation Boards
Aversatileevaluationboardthatenablesusers
tomeasureactualdeviceperformancehasbeen
developedfortheAGBSeriesGainBlocks.The
genericlayoutallowstheusertoimplementawide
varietyofmatchingcircuits,inordertoassess
performanceforaparticularapplication.
Theevaluationboardis1.0”square,andis
fabricatedon0.031”thickFR-4material.Figures
23and24showtheviaholelocationsandthe
layoutpatternonbothsidesoftheevaluationboard.
Theviashavea0.010”diameterandareplated
through.
Torequestanevaluationboard,pleasecontactan

ESD Sensitivity
Electrostaticdischargescancausepermanent
damagetothisdevice.Electrostaticdischarges
accumulateontestequipmentandthehuman
body,andcandischargewithoutdetection.
