DEVICE NAME
AQS107
The Aquantia AQS-107/AQS-108/AQS-109 SFP+ modules are based on Aquantias
GEN2 AQrate PHY, which provides low-power, high-performance, multi-gigabit
10GBASE-T /5GBASE-T /2.5GBASE-T /1000BASE-T /100BASE-TX transceivers. The
SFP+ modules deliver the exibility expected in the SFP+ form-factor to provide 5
GbE and 2.5GbE network connectivity speeds through 100 meters of Cat 5e cabling.
Using a 30-meter Cat 6a cable, 10 GbE speeds are achievable.
Aquantias SFP+ modules solution delivers an active rate-adaptation technology
that allows users to connect seamlessly using twisted-pair copper-based 2.5G and
5G modules into existing SFP+ slots that were previously considered to be 10G
ber-optic only—at a cost that can easily be absorbed.
The Aquantia SFP+ modules are compliant with the NBASE-T Alliance PHY
Specications and the IEEE® 802.3an/bz standard to perform all the physical layer
functions that are required to implement 10GBASE-T /5GBASE-T /2.5GBASE-T
/1000BASE-T /100BASE-TX transmission over twisted pair cabling. The Aquantia
SFP+ modules operate over the Commercial 0 C to 70 C temperature range.

APPLICATIONS
The Aquantia AQS SFP+ modules enable equipment networking and are ideally suited for switch-to-switch intercon-
nect. In Enterprise congurations, switches are typically shipping with 1G ports and 10G ber-optic uplink slots to
connect multiple switches together. Now, those uplinks can be achieved at higher speeds using the same slots, but with
cost-eective copper cabling.
Consumer demand for high-bandwidth applications such as video streaming is expanding as fast as Enterprise demand
for cloud-computing architectures. The increased usage paces tremendous demand on data centers as well as Enter-
prise IT departments. To meet this challenge, IT managers and data center providers will need to upgrade their current
1GbE capabilities to 2.5 GbE, 5 GbE, and 10 GbE.
