TeraLight Singlemode Fiber Features * * * * The Fiber Optic Product Line With Alcatel as the largest manufacturer of communications equipment in the world, its Fiber Optic Product Line has vast resources available to support your fiber needs. Alcatel manufactures optical fiber in Brazil, France, Germany, Switzerland and the United States. Regardless of which of these plants you purchase fiber, the Fiber Optic Product Line will support your technical, quality and marketing needs. Description Alcatel's TeralightTM Singlemode Fiber is designed for high bit rate, multiwavelength, long distance transmission for wavelengths greater than 1440nm. By optimizing the dispersion, effective area, and dispersion slope, TeralightTM provides DWDM compatibility with the current C band and future L and S bands. Careful optimization of the dispersion and effective area characteristics minimizes the generation of nonlinearity effects. This provides Fiber Optic Product Line TeraLightTM with 50GHz compatibility in both the C&L band with 10Gbps systems offering a total of 160 channels or 1.6 Terabits. The low dispersion slope combined with low non-linearity effects also provides excellent characteristics for future 40 Gbps transmission. By optimizing the dispersion and slope, TeralightTM also maintains the zero dispersion point below 1440 nm to provide a positive dispersion region above 1440 nm to be compatible with the future S band. AFC3 ColorLock: Unmatched Performance TeralightTM Fiber is provided with Alcatel's revolutionary AFC3TM Fiber coating. AFC3TM provides a level of Fiber durability and robustness even in harsher environments unseen in the industry. Its chemical compatibility with the fiber's glass surface and its resistance to degradation from the environment provides a superior aging and mechanical performance. Alcatel's unique ColorLockTM process combines the color with the coating, providing consistent, distinguishable, and dependable color over the life of the fiber. * * Provides future proofing of the network with expansion through closer channel spacing or higher bit rates 50 GHz compatibility in both the C band(1530-1565nm) and L band(1565-1625) with 10Gbps systems The reduced dispersion slope provides excellent dispersion characteristics for future 40 Gbps systems. Dispersion slope and zero dispersion point have been chosen to provide compatibility with the future S band in the > 1440nm region Low non-linear effects Superior PMD performance * AFC3TM coating provides durability and robust performance after prolonged exposure to extreme environmental conditions * * * * ColorLockTM provides lifetime color consistency and vibrancy by incorporating the coloring into the fiber coating Superior optical performance Superior optical stability at low temperature Excellent geometrical characteristics, which provide low splice loss Universal Compatibility Alcatel fiber meets or exceeds all industry standards for fiber specifications and continues to demonstrate field proven consistency meter after meter, kilometer after kilometer, and splice after splice. Alcatel fiber is currently in dependable use worldwide, in a wide variety of applications including the telecommunications, entertainment, CATV.
