PSDPRO - PARALL EL PORT PROGRAMM ER
S UM MARY DESCRIP TION
The PSDpro is a high performance engineering
programmer designed to program ST's entire f am-
ily of PSD products. Through the use of inter-
changeable sockets, the PSDpro can be
configured to program any of ST’s OTP or Flash-
based PSD Products. It is controlled using ST's
PSDsoft Express software operating in the IBM-
PC compatible Windows 95/ 98/2000 or NT/XP en-
vironment. The PSDpro enables quick program-
ming, greatly accelerating the system design
process.
The PS Dpro is easy to use. The parallel port i nt er-
face to the host computer eliminates problems
with bus addresses, interrupt assignments, or soft -
ware installation. PSDpro is p owered by an exter-
nal DC power supply
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Software
Must be used with PSDsoft Express software (ver-
sion 5.02 ES or later)
Hardware
■PC Com patible Windows 95/9 8/2000 or NT/
XP
■32MB of RAM
■Hard-Di sk space: approximately 30MB
■CD-RO M Drive

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. C onnect the parallel cable to th e PC and the
PSDpro P rogram mer.
2. Make s ure the ST Family module and the
Socket Adaptor are firmly se ated .
3. C onnect the power supply.
4. Go to the main screen of PSDsoft Express and
click on t he "STMicroelectronic s Conventional
Program m ers" block or Sel ec t
"STMicroel ec tronics Convent ion al
Program m ers" from the PSDsoft menu.
5. U nder the "Options" men u select "Hardware
Setup."
C onfigure for PSDpro and choose "Auto
Select" or "Manual Select" for the parallel port:
– Auto Selec t = PSDsoft selects the port
– Manual Select = User selects the port
6. Sel ec t OK.
7. If there are no error messages, then the setup
and auto check procedure is completed.
8. If an error message appears, check all
connect ions and retry by repeating the
installation procedure or by merely selecting
the " H Test" (Hardware Test) ic on on the main
screen.
Note: Repeat this procedure until there is no
longer an error message. If you cannot resolve
the conflict, contact ST technical supp ort for
