Features:

The Finisar MUX/DEMUX-w/TAP-8 plug-in module is a passive optical

multiplexer/demultiplexer designed for metro access applications that represents the

state of the art in fiber optics design. The MUX/DEMUX -w/TAP-8 plug-in module

multiplexes and demultiplexes eight CWDM wavelength channels from a two-fiber

circuit. This Mux/DeMux module is equipped with monitor port that allows our

customer connect optical meter or OSA to monitor and troubleshoot the network.

Finisar’s design al lows the creatio n of cost-effective unid irectional net work traffic rings

or point-to-point links.

Multiplexed wavelengths are interfaced to any of Finisar’s C WDM transceivers on the

equipment side. A grid of eight CWDM wavelengths is available from Finisar. The

MUX/DEMUX x- w/TAP-8 plug-in module pl ugs into one half of a 1RU, 19” rack mount

chassis for simple installation and modularity. This Chassis based system allows a

network equipment manufacturer to add WDM capability to any existing network

device that supports SFP interfaces.

Each equipment port of the MUX/DEMUX -w/TAP-8 plug-in module is color coded to

match the wavelength of Finisar’s CWDM tran sceiver. This allows ease of installation

and troubleshooting without having to remove the transceiver from the local

equipment.

The Finisar MUX/DEMUX w/TAP plug-in module delivers dramatic cost savings to

network equipment manufacturers, enabling them to develop metro access systems

that are lower in cost, easier to provision and simpler to operate.
